Aristocrat is a 3rd Edition and Pathfinder NPC class. Nobility is not a prerequisite of this class and noble is not synonymous with aristocrat. The typical upbringing and education received by nobly-born children is very likely to earn them one or more levels in this class. Nobles without levels in this class are common however, Count Strahd Von Zarovich being an example. Individuals stripped of their noble standing may continue to advance as aristocrats. Individuals who are not in fact nobles may, with proper training, become aristocrats, perhaps as part of the process of securing noble standing or simply to better interact with nobles.
