Malisha is an illithid priestess of Malar in Aferdale. Her canon origins are unknown, and so are her reasons for joining the Cult of Malar. She is the one who developed the plan to polymorph the people of Aferdale into animals in order to hunt them. Malisha is not publicly known to be a mind flayer, as she normally goes about town in heavy robes with a hood over her head.[1]

Noncanon Information

Following the discovery of the cult in Aferdale, Malisha was killed and the cult scattered to the winds. "Malisha" eventually returned as a young woman (aristocrat 4/cleric 5) to rebuild the cult. She has kept her mental powers but lost most of her clerical abilities. Her mind is also conflicted, as a curse has been warping her back to her own self. She agonizes over whether the cost of losing a seemingly human identity is worth losing her preferred natural form (and vice versa).[3]

In canon, Malisha's origins are unknown, but in the Nocturnal Sea Gazetteer, she is from Bluetspur. Pretending to be an exile, she is actually a secret agent for The Illithid God-Brain. She enlisted in the cult in order to not only learn of the humans but also to conduct the study of anatomy and perform fleshcrafting experimentss.[4]

Malisha has also become a demilord of Liffe.[5] It is conceivable, but not especially probable, that she was the result of biomancy similiar to that practiced on Marcu Vasilis (Gambler) and that yielded Marcu Vasilis (Aberration).
