The Wescote familly resided in Wescote Manor, northeast of Mordentshire, a little east of Mill Road. In 643 BC, an arranged marriage was imposed upon Burton Wescote and the daughter of a wealthy family that had immigrated to Mordent in the prior decades and that had somewhat tense relations with the Wescotes. On the night of the marriage, the Burton's bride-to-be was involved in the death of Michael Wescote, Burton's brother. Shortly thereafter, she was chased into a bog by Burton's hounds. There she drowned, but not before cursing Burton to an eternity of suffering.[1] Burton in fact lived for over century, during the last ten decades of which he aged not a day, was haunted by the ghost of the woman, and witnessed the bogs devour his estate. By 743 BC, when Burton sought the intervention of adventurers, he was the sole remaining Wescote. The adventurers were able to break the curse, putting thereby an end to Burton's life, the Wescote family, and the haunting of the Great Moor by Burton's bride-to-be.

The Wescotes presided over the Great Moor[2] For unknown reasons, they were not included in "S"' discussion of the Lost Families of Mordent.[3]
