Sebastian Blutkalte is a serial killer of a highly unusual nature: he is a dread doppelganger ghost whom suffers multiple personality disorder. One of his ghostly abilities allows him alter the shape of his possessed victims, such that Sebastian can take the physical form of one of his alternate identities when they take control of his fractured mind. Sebastian's main alternate personalities are of his now deceased family members, appearing when he needs to kill with different modus operandi. Sebastian also has another important alternate identity: that of traveling minstrel Wolfgang Saenger, with whom Sebastian uses to spread the tale of the Brood of Blutkalte[1].

Sebastian make take on further alternate identities, though almost always restricted to particularly memorable victims[2].

History[3]

The Blutkalte family was a vile bunch, widely held in contempt but rarely publicly criticized for the fear they inspired in the impoverished cAnorner of the community they lived in. Tobias Blutkalte, Sebstian's grandfather, used his manipulative skills and status as a community healer to cement his power over his little corner of the world. Tobias raised his son Maximilian with an abusive hand, a trait that Maximilian inherited when he married the cold-hearted Jutta and raised Sebastian. Like Maximilian before him, Sebastian grew up in a toxic and abusive environment.

An additional but unknown complication came from the fact that Sebastian was not actually the son of Maximilian, nor was Sebastian even human. Instead, he was sired by a dread doppelganger who impersonated Maximilian in order to mate with Jutta. For most of his life among the living, Sebastian and his family believed he was nothing more than a normal human- his doppelganger shapechanging powers would not appear until adolescence.

Within the wider public sphere, Sebastian was an outcast with a single friend, Philip Fassbinder, of the Fassbinder family. The Fassbinders held a long relationship of antagonism and hostily with the Blutkaltes. In fact, the Fassbinders were highly unusual in that they publicly criticized the Blutkaltes.

The mutual antagonisms of the Blutkaltes and the Fassbinders would come to a spectacular end with multiple fatalities for each. Tobias orchestrated a scheme to isolate and poison the Fassbinders under the guise of providing quarantine and cure a disease the Blutkalte's secretly afflicted upon the Fassbinders. As the Fassbinders lay helplessly in their beds, Tobias ordered his family to kill all of them.

Sebastian's relatives called him to kill his young friend Philip. Though Sebastian had manipulated Philip into deliquency using his mind reading abilities, Sebastian nonetheless had an emotional bond with Philip. In the end, Sebastian obeyed his family's demands, but it did not come without consequence. The traumatic nature caused Sebastian's nature as a dread doppelganger to manifest for the first time, and Sebastian subsequently slew two Tobias and Jutta before meeting his end at Maximilian Blutkalte's shovel. Sebastian quickly rose as a ghost and drained the life from Max, then went on to become a serial killer as his psyche broke apart.

Since that time, Sebastian has wandered, taking on the form of his deceased family to conduct murders of differing styles and means. Using the guise of the minstrel Wolfgang Saenger, Sebastian has pinned the murder on his family and thus has built up quite a legend for the Brood of Blutkalte.
