Michael Jendalis

Michael Jendalis is one of Mordentshire's most prominent, yet also its youngest, mediums. Born in Gryphon Manor to Pernella Weathermay and George Jendalis, Michael was thrust into the world of the ghostly from the very start of his existence. As a child of Pernella, Michael has both Weathermay and Godefroy blood in his veins.

Strande near Gryphon Manor, Michael's parents were forced to take refuge near it from a storm. Soon after, they were beset upon by the ghost of Lord Wilfred Godefroy. Although battered by Wilfred's cane and scared so terribly she entered labor early, Pernella was able to give birth to Michael before perishing. Although Pernella joined the ghosts of the manor, George was able to spirit the young Michael away and return to Mordentshire. Katherine Hines, Michael's nurse, went on to become his nanny and was responsible for taking care of him for most of his life. Even after she perished to disease, her ghost lived on as a close maternal figure he ever had. Though growing up sickly meant he had few chances for normal friends, young Michael was perfectly at home with the ghosts that flocked around to communicate with him.

Since coming of age, Michael has relished his role as a link between the living and the dead. However, his existence is complicated by threats from Lord Godefroy and trying to steer away the Weathermay-Foxgrove Twins, his cousins, from looking into the house on Gryphon Hill. In addition, like all Godefroys, he is afflicted with the family curse, and he knows it. Thus, he refuses to kill living humans, and he knows what will be his fate when he loses his mortality.
