Larissa Snowmane is the daughter of Aubrey Helson. Aubrey Helson grew a substantial debt to Captain Raoul Dumont of La Demoiselle du Musarde (a showboat, later called the River Dancer). Dumont had Aubrey murdered and claimed Larissa as payment, raising her as his own child.[1]

Trained as a dancer growing up, Larissa was ignorant of Dumont's dark deeds throughout most of her early life. However, later on she discovered Dumont's enslavement of several entities that powered the River Dancer and Dumont's murder of the crew and reanimation of them into zombies with the assistance of Lond.[1]

Receiving assistance from her lover Willen, Larissa escaped into the swamps of Souragne and had her hidden magical potential awakened by the Maiden of the Swamp and several other spirits, who taught her fruit and flower magic. She was imbued with the power of a druid. She left to face Dumont once again, but Anton Misroi intervened and taught her a dread spell of blood magic: the Dance of the Dead. Armed with this dread dance, she was (with some reluctance) able to use it to annihilate Dumont, Alondrin, and the zombies. However, the battle also cost her the life of Willen, thus demonstrating the dread power of the dance of the dead.[2]

Larissa has traveled the realms of the Demiplane of Dread, becoming an explorer with few peers.[1]

Larissa wields a magical whip given to her by Anton Misroi.[3]

Larissa is featured in the novel Dance of the Dead.[4]
