Led by Falkfuhrer Mikhail Drakov from the Radiant Tower in Lekar, the Ministry of the Arcane is one of the ministries of the Falkovnian state. The Ministry of the Arcane exists as Drakov's begrudging admission to the utility of magic in matters of war^[1] (Given Falkovnia's aversion to defining a state religion^[2], the Ministry seems to focus mostly on arcane magic.

The Ministry of the Arcane has established a strict control on magics of the sorcerer and wizard, to a point that watchful eyes are ever on the lookout for recruits with magical potential, even though the prevalence of spellcasters is low in Falkovnia. Such practitioners of arcane magic are forced to swear their loyalty to Vlad Drakov and the Falkovnian State. These arcane spellcaster recruits can be conscripted at any time to cooperate with the Ministry's staff^[3]. Fortunately for Falkovnia's neighbors, Drakov's contempt of magic as a tool of the weak, effete, and cowardly places significant limiations on the Ministry's effectiveness, at least according to "S". He does not wish for the Ministry to pump out wizards fighting directly on the battlefield but rather focus on the creation of warfare enhancing magic items or more rarely other special projects to enhance performance in war.^[1]
