Fey are corporeal, animate, living, immortal creatures that eat, breath, and sleep. They, if anything, fear undeath more than mortal creatures, having from their perspective more to lose.
"A fey is a creature with supernatural abilities and connections to nature or to some other force or place. Fey are usually human-shaped."[1]
In Ravenloft, the fey are divided into Sylvan Fey, who have no intolerence of the sun, and Shadow Fey or The Arak, who are slain by the rays of the sun.
Fey are thoroughly dependent on chemical energy, overwelmingly derived from other living creaturues.
