Vlad Drakov

Vlad Drakov is the darklord of Falkovnia, although the extent to which he appreciates this fact, and in particular his curse, is unclear.

Drakov originally came from the country of Thenol on the continent of Taladas in Krynn, where he was a mercenary captain known as the Hawk. His men were the Talons of the Hawk, and they were widely known as cruel and callous enforcers selling their talents to the highest bidders, no questions asked. When Drakov first arrived in the Land of Mists, he and his men found themselves in Darkon, where they set about trying to make a territorial claim by destroying a village and putting the inhabitants on pikes. When the villagers animated as the walking dead, Drakov and his men were forced to flee into the Mists. There the domain of Falkovnia was revealed to Drakov and held him fast.

Drakov has ruled for over 90 years, though he appears to be only in his late sixties. Speculation on his slowed aging has ruled out undeath, but the cause of his longevity is still a desperate secret. Through his numerous wives, mistresses, slave-concubines and the right of First Night, Drakov has children of all ages, all over Falkovnia and beyond. Counted among them are Vlad Drakov II, Vigo Drakov, Mikhail Drakov, Mircea Drakov, Kara Drakov, Victor Helsinger, Gabrielle Aderre. If one of his illegitimate children earns renown, Drakov may extend an invitation to join House Drakov, recognising formally the relationship and granting the new Drakov a measure of wealth and power.

Drakov prefers impalement as a method of execution, and demands at least one such killing to accompany his evening meal. He has perpetrator of the Dead Man's Campaign, Gold Claw Massacre, Widow's Massacre, Winter War, Dementlieuvian Annexation, Starving March, Borderlands War, and Executioner's Campaign.

He resides principally in Draccipetri.

Chronology

• 665 BC: Drakov is born in the kingdom of Thenol on the continent of Taladas in the world of Krynn.
• 689 BC: Vlad Drakov and his Talons of the Hawk enter the Mists and come out in Darkon. They immediately put the Darkonian villages of Pound, S'Realm, and Glymshire to the torch. The undead retaliate, and Vlad's mercenaries are expelled into the Mists.
• 690 BC: Falkovnia forms.

• 691 BC: Falkovnia faces two threats in Silbervas: a rising thieves' guild and an infestation of wererats. They are both led by the Clawed. The period of Falkovnian history known as the Years of Impaled Rats begins.
• 694 BC: Vlad Drakov drives out the wererats (and their leader of Silbervas and Falkovnia altogether. The Years of Impaled Rats period ends.
• 695 BC: Falkovnia invades Lamordia in the Winter War.
• January 696 BC: The Falkovnians retreat from Lamordia due to its freaklishly harsh winter, ending the Winter War.
• 700 BC: First Dead Man’s War waged by Falkovnia upon Darkon
• 700 BC: Rumor: Lamordia strikes a trade agreement (and therefore, peace treaty) with Falkovnia.
• 703 BC: Falkovnia and Lamordia formally acknowledge a pact of nonaggression.
• 704 BC: Second Dead Man’s War is waged by Falkovnia upon Darkon.
• 705 BC: Vigo Drakov, one of the children of the Gentleman Caller, is born. Vlad believes the child to be one of his own.
• 706 BC: Falkovnia tries to invade Borca, causing the Widow's Massacre takes place.
• 707 BC: Dementlieuvian Annexation: Falkovnia invades Dementlieu but is repulsed.
• 711 BC: Third Dead Man’s War
• 712 BC: Falkovnia enters a planning phase of a larger invasion against Darkon.
• 716 BC: Borderlands War: Falkovnia tries to invade Richemulot but is repulsed.
• 719 BC: The Starving March occurs. Falkovnia invades G'Henna but is repulsed.
• 722 BC: The Fourth Dead Man's War
• 724 BC: Falkovnia invades Dementlieu and Richemulot, resulting in the Executioner's Campaign.
• 727 BC: Falkovnia tries to invade Dorvinia; this results in the Gold Claw Massacre.
• 729 BC: Treaty of the Four Towers is signed by the enemies of Falkovnia, much to Vlad's chagrin..
• 751 BC: March: Falkovnia launches its fifth invasion of Darkon in the March of Doom. Falkovnian forces reach as far north as Nartok before being turned back by the undead.
