The Wildlands was once an Island of Terror, but has since become part of The Verdurous Lands.[7][8] Though all the domain's denizens fear its darklord King Crocodile, no formal government exists within this untamed tropical wilderness. All human attempts to settle this land are doomed to failure, seeming to indicate nature itself has an enmity against such trespass. Indeed, the animals of the domain are inherently hostile to humans and show uncanny cunning in taking out all trespassers. In fact, all the animals of the domain are fully sentient with personality traits afforded to their kind by humans. All save for the ubiquitous but overlooked fly can speak the language of humanoids, though for the most part they refrain.[9]
The Wildlands, since joining the with Sri Raji and Saragoss to form the Verdurous Lands Cluster,[7][8] no longer have a moon with potentially interesting consequences for lycanthropes having some part of the lunar cycle as their trigger condition.[10]
Chronology
- 658 BC: The Wildlands takes shape as an Island of Terror.[3][4]
- 740 BC: As part of the Grand Conjunction, the Verdurous Lands is created from the combining of Sri Raji, the Wildlands, and Saragoss.[7][8]
- 740 BC: An expedition of adventurers set out from Sri Raji to the Wildlands. They meet unfortunate ends there. Raja Singh becomes the victim of a wereleopard.[10]
- 743 BC: Carnival travels through the Wildlands, and a group of wereleopards attack. Isolde defeats their attackers, and the Hideous Man-Beast is taken alive. Carnival cages him and puts him on display, only to later discover he reverts to human form during the full moon. It is the first time in three years.[11]
