Father Guran (NPC)

Father Guran is a cleric from Krynn (there known as Favored Sun Guran. He pretended to be a healer of disease and a priest of Paladine, but the truth was the opposite. He was truly an agent for Morgion, an evil Outlander deity of disease, and he spread much more disease than he cured. However, Guran was intelligent enough to make the illnesses he spread slow-acting enough to come long after he had left. Guran served Morgion well until a random servant girl stumbled upon him doing his black work in the halls of Tallguard Keep. Using dread power, he murdered her, but not before her cries of death were heard by everyone in the halls. Guran escaped, but Morgion punished his failure with a wasting disease of his own. In desperation, he turned to the worship of Chemosh, the deity of undeath. Chemosh "rewarded" his conversion with transformation into a heucuva, and then the Mists took him for their own.

Since coming to Ravenloft, Father Guran continues his old work much as he did on Krynn, though serving Chemosh instead of Morgion and pretending to be a priest of local gods instead of Paladine. He hopes to achieve some degree of atonement through this service to his new dark master. Although Father Guran is preternaturally intelligent for a heucuva, he hasn't realized he is far beyond any of his old gods' influence. Fearful of the legend of Lord Soth, he avoids Sithicus like the plague.
