I really hope they bring back the barbarian's weapon specializations, or at least the assassin and her claw specialization. Or the "indestructible" quality for some items from the first game; I hate having my weapons and armor break down.

Definitely looking forward to this one, provided that my laptop can run it.

That said, I get the impression that weapon durability will be something that gets scrapped. I can't recall a single game in which that rule made it more fun to play.

Durability. What a joke! At least give players the option of maintaining their own weapons and armor. Not like the Warrior from D1, though; that's not a solution I like (I lose 1 Max Durability if I do it myself!? Boo!!!). I'd argue for the same option in WoW, but that's for another thread.

Viva Diablo!

A pox upon Worlds of Warcraft! Diablo III is long over due.

Let us pray it returns to its darker roots.

And also, that it lets me just drop gold wherever I want.

Woot woot!

Yeah I've been playing WoW for years now, and I have to say Diablo 3 looks amazing. I've never played the first 2, but this one looks awesome. Now how does it play? Do you control a mass army and move them around, or does it play similar to WoW?

One character in a top-down view. Similar to Neverwinter Nights or the Baldur's Gate series, only with real-time combat and speedier combat with many crazy monsters.

But equipment is similar to WoW.

Oh yeah that will be amazing. Blizzard may kill Warcraft with it though. But hey, both are their games so it doesn't really matter. PLus it will be good to see a change of pace. This is an online only game I'm assuming, or can it be played offline single player style?

Both D1&2 had multiplayer options, but they were primarily offline single-player games. Diablo 3 will most likely be the same; not an MMORPG but one you could play with your buddies online.

Yeah I'll be getting it then for sure. I tend to stay away from online games, mostly because my work and school block them at the firewall. I play WoW afterwards at home, but one online game is enough.

Dunno.... I know that Diablo 2 had an extremely large and active multiplayer, even several years after its release, despite the horrible bugs and rampant hacking. In some ways, I suspect it was a kind of proto-WoW, in that there was a massive community. Heck, they even turned the Stone of Jordan magic ring into a currency.

My point was that the games were primarily offline, not an online-only game like WoW. And oh, do I remember the Stone of Jordan! No other item has driven me as crazy as that little ring.
