The Stone Giant

The Stone Giant is an unnamed stone giant locked in a state of eternal nightmares in the Grey Gardens area of Craven Cove. Stuck in front of a mirror made for him by the Sea Witch, he is oblivious to any of the chaos he causes around him with his reality warping psychic agony. Only by the destruction or theft of the mirror can the Stone Giant be freed. Unfortunately, this will cause him to fall into a state of profound sadness, unable to connect with the dreams of his wife.

History

During the days of Widow's Peak's success as a trade hub, a lone stone giant approached the shores of Craven's Cove to look at the sky, having come up from the underground world. Why the stone giantess did so is unknown, but her husband eventually came looking for her. However, by the time he was reunited, she had become an irrevocable statue from hundreds of years of staring into the sea. Wracked by pain, the bereaved husband went on a binge of destruction until the Sea Witch approached him with an offer. She would give the Stone Giant a way to commune with his wife's dreams, if he promised to help her in her time of need. The Stone Giant agreed, and the Sea Witch created for him a great mirror to view his beloved's dreams in her eternal slumber.

When a mob of angry villagers came to burn her at the stake, the Sea Witch called for the Stone Giant's help. However, he was too enthralled by the visions of his wife. For this breach of their agreement, the Sea Witch cursed him and warped the magic, turning the dreams into eternal nightmares and trapping the Stone Giant's mind inside. The horrific torment caused the Stone Giant to send out powerful waves of psychic energy that warped the surroundings around him. The land around him warped into a horrific mess of ever-shifting stone and rock called Grey Gardens. Moreover, the nearby people were transformed into monsters. Little Edie, an evil mage turned into a medusa, took advantage of the situation by organizing the monsters for her own benefit.
