The House on the Hill

The former house of Sea Witch, known simply as the House on the Hill, sits in a region of almost mountain like hills to the northwest of the town of Widow's Peak in Craven Cove. It was here on the grounds of her own home that she was burned at the stake by an angry mob. Decades later, the pyre that she met her doom upon still burns. It is also the focal point for the terrible curse she placed upon her homestead, such that nobody would ever enjoy it.[1]

In revenge, the Sea Witch laid down a powerful curse upon the people of Widow's Peak and the land of Craven Cove. In addition, she laid down a particularly wicked curse upon the land surrounding her own home. People and animals that come within ten miles of her home feel a sense of mounting dread, most fleeing before coming too close. People coming within 5 miles are hit by a large blast of necromantic energy, potentially destroying them outright. As previously stated, the pyre is the focal point of this curse, outright disintegrating anyone who draws too close.[2]

Despite her demise, the purported sighting of strange lights at the House on the Hill adds more fuel to the rumors the Witch somehow cheated Death. These rumors are in fact bogus.[3] There is little to be gained by visiting the House on the Hill, save for a note to her daughter Amelia Hawthorne, a talisman of ultimate evil, and/or a chance encounter with Isolde.[4]
