The Dark Mother Miranda was an evil priestess of the Elder Elemental God in his Earth aspect. Her base of operations was the Cathedral of the Damned. One day her temple was attacked by a group of adventurers called the Song Blades. The adventuring band numbered only four, with two brothers (both wizards), a knight named Andros Valkyrie, and his wife, Lady Karalyn Valkyrie. With the help of her cultists, the Dark Mother drew them back and captured Lady Valkyrie.[1]
The uncaptured adventurers soon regained their bearings and struck once more, this time striking from the shadows. However, the Dark Mother had a secret ace up her sleeve: she had transformed Lady Valkyrie into the Beast, and the dark priestess commanded her new guard to destroy her former friends. The Beast accomplished this, but Sir Andros managed to destroyed her control collar before he perished. The destruction of the collar signaled the end of the Dark Mother as well, for the Beast destroyed her as well.Following this betrayal[2] , the Dark Mother arose as a ghost, albeit a very weak one. She only has the power to create illusions. She is also mute, unable to communicate except through her illusions.[3]
