The teg are one of the nine major Arak races.[1] These wily fey are creatures of the wild, enjoying the presence of animals, and in particular hunting animals, more the presence of humanoids or even the other breeds of the Arak[2][3]. This is not to say teg are stupid, for they posses both cleverness[2][3] and high Wisdom[3]. Teg possess the innate ability to communicate with animals typically encountered in woods and grasslands of temperate climate.[2][3]

Teg are innate hunters, living for the kill but more so even the hunt. Though they typically hunt animals, they will take to hunting mortals with just as much or more aplomb if encountered in their hunts. Teg make hunted animals into food and hide accoutrements.[2] The teg also embody the spirit of exploration and create maps for the Arak- the Clockmaker claims the teg have charted out the entirey of the Shadow Rifts interior[4].

Like the other arak, the teg dwell within the Shadow Rift, where they make up about seven percent of the population.[5] Beyond the Shadow Rift, Teg can be encountered in the following domains: Falkovnia[6] and Tepest[7]

The teg are also known as the burrowers[1] or bogies[8].

Appearance

In their true forms, teg have short builds and fox-like facial features with feline eyes, wicked and toothy smiles, pointy ears, and big hands with clawed fingers. Teg typically favor camoflage clothing.[2][3]

Teg can assume the forms of foxes[2][3] The teg can also use Disguise Self as a spell-like ability.[3] Despite their transformation and illusion abilities, the teg do not have the Shapechanger Subtype[8]

Combat

Despite enjoying the killing act, teg take greater pleasure in stalking and even playing with their prey even more. A teg may set up traps and then herd victims into them before striking. Preferring to strike first from ambush, a teg lashes out with claw and bite.[2][3]

The excited howl of a teg can send its prey into a complete state of disarray, as per the confusion spell. Teg may cast a limited number of animal-related divine spells.[2][3]

Teg demonstrate a physical resiliency against weapons, save for those made of [gold]] or of sufficient magical strength to harm them.[2][8] They also enjoy total invulnerability to cold[2][3] or ice[2] attacks as well as weapons made of wood[2][3]. However, teg also possess the universal shadow fey vulnerability to sunlight.[2][3]

Language

In addition to the language of all breeds of the Arak[2], the teg speak their own breed-specific tongue[2][9] and Sylvan.[3] As previously mentioned, teg can innately communicate with creatures typically encountered in woods and grasslands of temperate climate.[2][3]

Advancement

Teg advance by character class, with druid as their favored class. Ranger is another class some take levels in.[3]

The Teg and the Faerie Courts

The teg belong to the Unseelie Court.[1] The teg may act as spies in the lands of mortalkind.[10]

The Teg and Mortals

Of the factions of predominant druidic belief in Arak society, Teg druids tend to believe either that mortals who try to impose order onto the natural chaos of the wild must be destroyed or that intelligent mortal life itself is an aberration to be destroyed.[11]

Teg select skilled hunters to make into tegkin.

Descriptive Text

Come all ye wild folk
Come without warning,
Come to wreak our mischief,
Gone before the morning.

Come while the humans sleep,
Take them unawares,
Come join the High Hunt,
Chase the men like hares.

Sing herry-down, derry-down
Sing we all together,
Sing for the wild wind and the stormy weather.
