15 miles to the east of Maykle, Lestaz is a fairly big village (pop. 850) with an overall Lawful Neutral alignment. Its mayor is Galastal Delvan, and he is often advised by Father Ergoz and Tregaz. Lestaz' chief law enforcement officer is Sheriff Vionter.[1]

Local landmarks include the Lestaz Temple of Boccob (ran by Father Ergoz)[2] and Balkor's Tavern, the sole inn within Lestaz[3]. Lestaz formerly had two scholars Cirmus and Grachtan, but Cirmus was murdered by Blackorn in order to conceal his master Balipur's true plans (see blow). Finally, Lestaz is home to a somewhat eccentric prophet (though not a Vistana) named Ashavea.[4]

Lestaz is serving as a midpoint between a future road between Maykle and Nevuchar Springs and a supplier of both resources and labor for the construction of said road. Unfortunately, the village has been plagued by a number of attacks, robberies, and murders mostly targeting the builders of the road. The attacks seem to be perpetrated by ghosts originating from a a haunted manor two miles east from Lestaz.[5] In reality, these undead entities are actually the servants of the lich Balipur. Balipur employs them gathering books for the dark knowledge that he might need to earn his freedom (and mortality) once again.[6]
