Ivan Dragonov

Ivan is one of the most eminent and most skilled monster hunters in the Land of Mists. Born in Falkovnia, he seemed doomed to life as a vicious street tough, but Hamer took the young Ivan under his wing and redeemed him.

Ivan became a lycanthrope hunter early on after personally witnessing the horrible aftereffects of a lycanthropic infection. Yet later he would become afflicted with lycanthropy himself. A mountain loup-garou managed to infect him with the dread disease he hated the most.

While battling his own lycanthropy, Ivan hunted Adam at the behest of Dr. Victor Mordenheim. Adam managed to slip away (and to this day the dread flesh golem remains Ivan's only escaped prey.) However, in driving away Adam, Ivan saved Hilda Kreutzer.

Ivan's doubts of his control over his affliction became solidified when he encountered, and became infatuated with, a woman named Gabrielle Faure. His passions caused him to transform as she transformed into a great spider. After Gabrielle's death, Ivan retreated to the company of Hamer, asking the priest to either cure or kill him. After both failed, Ivan was overcome and killed Hamer. To make up for the evil he wrought, he would use his affliction to fight those monsters like him.

Ivan Dragonov is featured in the story Tales of Ravenloft: The Vanished Ones and the novel Mordenheim.
