Along with Rostoff, Hanford was one of the kidnappers of Rozaleen that brought her to Ashington Manor. For his role in her abuse which ultimately ended in murder, Hanford became one of the targets of the Ashington Curse.

History

As with the other regular attendees of Lord Herod Ashington's perverse night gatherings at Ashington Manor, Hanford was a corrupt and morally degenerate nobleman. He and Rostoff kidnapped Rozaleen and brought her to one such gathering for a night of sadistic entertainment. Although Hanford and Rostoff had sexual exploitation in mind, Lord Ashington called her out as a Vistani and demanded she make some enjoyable readings of the tarokka, but the fortunes she told only spoke of doom. Lord Ashington, under the dread influence of Maekon's paranoia poison, ultimately murdered Rozaleen, though she cursed the manor and its inhabitants before they died. As with Lord Ashington and Rozaleen's other tormentors, Hanford became cursed never to emerge from the manor as one of the living should Rozaleen fail to. Soon after, Lord Ashington murdered his party guests- including Hanford- for supposedly harboring sympathies with the deceased Vistani girl[1].

As the power of the Ashington Curse reaches its zenith approaching some eight and a half decades after Rozaleen's death, the spirits of Hanford and fellow party-goers are trapped in a temporal distortion that warps the features of Ashington Manor to moments in the past when the curse has manifested and repeated itself. During the time shifts of Rozaleen's initial murder, Hanford appears just as he was at the time- young men of attractive appearance and wealth. During later time periods, Hanford's spirit fuses with the likenesses of similar individuals appearing in those time periods[2].
