Salt is a nutriment essential to the material processes of life as understood by biology and is an essential commodity. It also makes useful weapon against leeches. It has, in certain times and places, served as money, the most easily exchanged commodity, and hence the unit of exchange. Salt may abe collected from specially created flats by the seashore through the process of evaporation and is mined underground.

In particular, salt was dug out of the earth at the Veidrava Salt Mine in Sithicus, where it could easily bartered, and is exported to neighbouring lands. Use of the Veidrava stopped with the Hour of Screaming Shadows.[1] Mount Arawn in Forlorn is pockmarked with salt caves, but the goblyns make mining impractical.[2]
Salt production occurs in several domains, including Barovia[3], Borca[4], Darkon[5], Falkovnia[6], Har'Akir[7], Invidia[8], Kartakass[9], Lamordia[10], Nidala[11], Nova Vaasa [12], Sanguinia[13], Sithicus[14], Sri Raji[15], and Souragne[16]. Sebua also has salt deposits[17], but they exist in locations similarly accursed to the salt mines in Folorn.
