A deathshrieker is the death wails of many dying people collected into one incorporeal undead spirit. Such unfortunate souls experienced agonizing torment as they died over long periods of time, their screams building into an undead entity trapped reliving the experiences in endless cycles. A deathshrieker goes on causing further deaths merely to hear more people's screams as they die. However, the deathshrieker itself is far from quiet, save for the rare creepy whisper.^[1]

A deathshrieker has multiple means of attack. Its scream can deafen, then stun, and finally kill nearby living creatures. The sight of the creature too can be horrific, paralyzing victims for a time. When it strikes in melee, a deahshrieker's touch inflicts Charisma ability drain.^[2]

For all its noise, a deathshrieker cannot abide by magical silence. Simply by being in such an area, the creature takes damage.^[3]

It is widely known, throughout Darkon, that truly gruesome deaths, especially those that happen on battlefields and in poor houses, or those that happen regularly in the streets of Paridon, generate undead. I dismiss all of this as rubbish! Undead are only born of the foulest necromancy.
There are, of course, exceptions.
For example, a year after I came back to my native Darkon from my travel in Dementlieu and Markovia, I witnessed a creature called Eiulatus in Darkonese. This creature, an horrible undead whose semblance was that of a ghostly skeleton, was roaming the place of a battle of the first ]]Falkovnian]] invasion. The ghost was screaming like he was being torn apart by some unseen force. I must admit that, in spite of all of my noteworthy willpower, even I was moved to fear!
