An island in ocean of the greater Domain of Malopelagio in the Wartorn Cluster. Castra is first mentioned in the Conferences of Victor Gagné IV.

History

According to Genevieve Schlosser, Castra is a place with ruins of an older, more advanced civilization. Its current inhabitants suffered a dark age under an oppressive regime, which preyed on the people, until a recent political upheaval.

To be precise, the island was conquered by the Centurions of the Night, following its discovery by the Red Haunt. In spite of that group's own malignant intentions, the Centurions have been working hard to build the nation up, strengthening its populace, improving its economy, and turning the island into their stronghold in the Cluster.

Politics

It is unknown whether the previous ruler or rulers of Castra managed to survive the takeover, but the Centurions are now effectively in charge of the island and its whole population.

Strategic Value

Castra holds one of only two known Mistways in the Wartorn Cluster that connect it to the Core: the Piper's Lament. A specific blood rite opens a two-way passage between Castra in the Wartorn Cluster and Forlorn in the Core. When the time comes for the Centurions to launch their War, this Mistway will allow for what amounts to a sneak attack, as it enables the Legions of the Night under Centurion control to spill forth from a benighted and often ignored corner of the Core.
