Cardinál

Cardinál is a Hairy Spider from Hazlan. He serves as a Dread Familiar for the red widow Richelle de Mauvais.

Background

Richelle bonded with Cardinál during a visit of the Théàtre d'Atroce to Hazlan, considering him to be a handsome specimen, and perhaps feeling a bit of envy and loneliness after witnessing Hairy Spiders' pack-based lifestyle.

While Cardinál mainly serves his mistress by keeping her lair free of small vermin, spying on people from the shadows and watching over her belongings while she is absent, he is as patient as the grave and more alert than a pack of bloodhounds. His loyalty to his mistress is flawless. In addition, as he was recruited with the feat Obtain Familiar, rather than through the Summon Familiar Wizard's class ability, he has all the powers and abilities of a 12th-level familiar. If one sees a Hairy Spider crawling around Richelle's home, odds are this is not Cardinál, but a member of the swarm of Hairy Spiders he has attracted and sired over the years to serve his mistress...

Appearance

Originally roughly the size of an adult male human's hand, Cardinál is covered in dark fur. As his mistress progressed along her own Path of Corruption, however, he has grown several inches larger, and threads of silver have appeared in his fur. As he is as strong and fast as ever, the spider is not disturbed by his gradual transformation.
