Brynn is a minor character from the novel Dance of the Dead (Novel). He was a member of Captain Raoul Dumont's crew on La Demoiselle du Musarde. He was driven mad by a journey into the Maison d'Sablet to collect some feu follets as he witnessed the death of his fellow sailors and kidnappers. Brynn later committed suicide and was subsequently reanimated as a zombie by Alondrin.

Biography

Brynn hailed originally from Invidia, and had joined the crew of La Demoiselle du Musarde in Karina. Although he was capable of roughening up folks as Invidian, he did not show fear or other signs of emotions typical of Invidians. Rather, he had a cold, resolved calmness about him.[1]

Dumont often sent his sailors out on excursions to find special creatures for his "collection" of magical beings while the cast of the Pirate's Pleasure performed their play. In Souragne, Dumont sent out a team of four sailors comprised of Brynn, Astyn, Kandrix, and PhillipD into the swamp to collect some unusual beings to be added to Dumont's gallery of slaves. Astyn, Kandrix, and Astyn all lost their lives in the Maison d'Sablet, but Brynn survived and delivered a chest filled with feu follets to the captain. However, the horror of the experience drew Brynn mad,[2], and he committed suicide soon after his return.[3]

With the permission of Dumont, Alondrin reanimated Brynn as a special zombie that retained its intelligence and the appearance of life if not independent will or personality.[4] Brynn was later decapitated by Sardan and thrown overboard into the muck of the swamp by Willen during the attack to free the slaves imprisoned by Dumont.[5]
