Belenus (real name: Jonathan Brook) was a Tepestani cleric of the god of the same name. His mother was burnt at the stake for witchcraft. He later fell in love with Charlotte, a werefox hoping to use her connection with Brook to strike at the group that was hunting her. Annya, a halfling ranger, was jealous of Charlotte's feigned affections. When Annya publicly revealed Charlotte's treachery using a magic potion, the demonstration shattered Brook's mind. He jumped into the river and was washed away, where the Mists took him into Pharazia.[1]

Diamabel's thugs discovered Brook and took him to their lord. Afflicted with amnesia, there was little left of Brook's old life for him to resist falling under Diamabel's sway. Now known simply as "Belenus" for the symbol he was found with, Brook converted to Diamebel's faith and serves as a pawn for Diamabel's propaganda machine. Ironically, though he naively and blindly follows a faith of intrinsic evil, Belenus's good will (and perhaps the will of the Dark Powers) has transformed his new identity into that of a True Innocent.[2]
