Baltoi is a tanar'ri marilith who resides in a dormant state within the mine shaft in the eponymous Sleeping Beast Mountains in Lamordia. She was a major tactician in the ongoing Blood War that takes place in the lower planes. Under her leadership, the armies of Chaos suffered a major defeat and as punishment, she was imprisoned in Ravenloft by a major evil power, and was also stripped of her ability to gate in Tanar'ri reinforcements. The Demiplane saw fit to replace this loss with a gift in growth of her overall size and power, making one of the most deadly enemies on the Demiplane even more dangerous.
Upon discovery of her, she was sealed into her mountain lair by a sorceress named Eserine. She is currently asleep, but the power of this spell is waning daily.
Other Notes
According to Van Richten's Monster Hunter's Compendium III, Baltoi's current Corruption Index is 20, her land-based powers are cause insanity, confusion, corrupt life, hyper-regeneration, and mass charm and her reality wrinkle is 80 feet in diameter. However, according to Ravenloft Gazetteer Volume II, her current Corruption Index is 0, she has no land-based powers and her reality wrinkle is 400 feet in diameter, though when she awakens, it will grow to 40,000 feet.
Her fiendish phylactery is a huge, uncut black diamond.
She is the most powerful evil outsider residing in Ravenloft at the present.
