Daglan Daegon was the ruler and darklord (very briefly, at least in canon) of the domain of Daglan. He was also the ancestor of Radaga. He created the artifact known as the the Crown of Souls.[1] Daegon is the ultimate villain of the 2nd Edition module Feast of Goblyns, though his first appearance in the flesh is very brief and occurs right at the end of that adventure. However, he can gain control over people who don the Crown and are subsequently corrupted into a Chaotic Evil alignment.[2]

Background

Many centuries ago on the Prime Material Plane, Daegon served an evil warlord and was tasked with fabricating a powerful artifact, the Crown of Souls. Upon its completion, the warlord betrayed him and struck him dead. However, Daegon had predicted this betrayal and placed a variant Magic Jar spell upon that crown, one that would allow Daegon to possess the body of any who wore the crown. The warlord's will was too strong to be possessed, but he lost the Crown in a fight with an enemy troup of elves.[1]

One of the elves found the Crown. Daegon attempted to take control of the elf, but the Dark Powers interceded as the Mists engulfed the Crown. The elf's spirit became entrapped in the Crown with Daglan, causing a ceaseless war of wills. The psychic conflict took its toll on Daegon, but he drew more power for each one of his bloodline that died in the ensuing centuries, until Radaga was the last one left. Daegon somehow made a pact with the Dark Powers to bring her to the Land of Mists. Until she was twice slain, one in her mortal form and once more in an undead body, Daegon remained locked inside of the Crown without a form of his own.[1]

In 736 BC, Radaga was felled, but she rose again and fled into the Mists. The Dark Powers granted her the mantle of the domain of Daglan's darklord. She was felled again, and Daegon finally achieved his desired freedom. It was for but a brief moment however, as he was shortly destroyed thereafter. With Daegon's destruction, his domain ceased to be.[3]
