The Howling Clan is both a cult venerating Wolf God and a secret society of lycanthropes (specifically, loup-garou) led by Mother Fury and based in Kartakass[1][2]. They were once based in Verbrek, but Alfred Timothy found Mother Fury's religious practice to be heretical and chased them out[2]. The charge of heresy stems from the fact that Mother Fury preaches a doctrine whereupon both the human and the wolf aspect of the werewolf are valued, whereas Alfred Timothy believes the nature of the human aspect's character is weak. Mother Fury is also unusual in that she inducts worthy humans into the Howling Clan. In fact, except for Mother Fury, only afflicted lycanthropes fill the ranks of the Howling Clan as of 756 BC[2].

Mouther Fury scouts prospective new recruits from individuals showing violent or sadistic tendencies[2]. Such individuals are kidnapped[1][2], and Mother Fury infects them with lycanthropy[2]. If a prospective new recruit survives being hunted by a single member of the Howling Clan, the prospective new recruit is inducted into the Clan[1][2]. Such induction may not be declined[1]. x The Howling Clan currently inhabit a cave tunnel complex running the border to Hazlan[1]. Mother Fury's howl triggers the Howling Clan's transfiguration[1][2].

As of 756 BC, the Howling Clan continue their efforts to steer clear of Harkon Lukas and the other wolfweres, but this may change as Mother Fury's ambitions for power grows[2].
