Chief Constable James Wortle

James Wortle led the City Guard of Paridon as its Chief Constable) as the 14th murder cycle began in 755 BC. He was the fifth Chief Constable in 13 years. Wortle was widely recognised to have done exemplary work in his brief time in office. But the City Council was looking for an excuse to replace him because of his unwillingness to accept that the aristocrats of Paridon were not answerable to the City Guard. As the murder cycle progressed Wortle nearly snapped under the pressure and was removed from office. Inspector Francine Maxwell was then named Acting Chief Constable.
