Velferd is the one of the most knowledgeable,[1] perhaps even the most powerful[2] of the Wise Women of Graben Island. She is irascible[3] and opinionated[1]. She lives in Graben-town, where she has a reputation as an oracle. While she is respected, even feared, she is not well-liked.[3]
Velferd's familiar is an ermine.[1]
