Lord Pidlwik Dilisnya
Pidlwik Dilisnya, also known as the Fool of Dorfniya, was nobly born in Prime Material Barovia in the year 280 BC. He was the son of Izabela Dilisnya. He married Duchess Dorfniya Dilisnya who bore him four children: Reinhold in 310 BC, Gertrude in 315 BC, Oleka in 317 BC and Leo Dilisnya in 320 BC. Leo was in fact fathered by Gunther Cosco. There were at least nine grandchildren, among them Lovina Wachter.
His mother Izabela, the aged matriarch of her line, was assassinated in 314 BC. The crime was blamed upon the Katsky and the Petrovna families. They had been locked in a dispute with the Dilisnyas over the rights to the prosperous (but now played out) silver mines of Mount Gries. There was also a century of accumulated ill-will between the families. The assassination touched off the War of Silver Knives. It was far less a war than a series of tit-for-tat assassinations that Count Barov von Zarovich ordered an end to in 316 BC. Peace was restored, but well before Izabela could be sufficiently avenged so far as Pidlwik was concerned. He developed an intense hatred for the von Zaroviches that he passed on to Leo. Pidlwik died in 349 BC, the von Zaroviches unpunished for their interference. Bizarrely enough, he was buried in the catacombs beneath Castle Ravenloft.[1]
