Mocellus (NPC)

Mocellus is an elf raaig residing in the Silt Sea out of Kalidnay. He lived during the Green Age of Athas and led a cult dedicated to the false deity Nesjan, whom (in Mocellus' mind) called for sacrifices of the sentient. Mocellus operated out of the ancient town of Waverly until his cult was driven out. However, his cult came back to power after offering the town leaders a way of disposing of orc prisoners during the Cleansing Wars. After failing to receive clerical powers from sacrificing orc blood, Mocellus turned to sacrificing elves instead. He was eventually caught, tied to his sacrificial altar, and burnt alive. Following his death, Mocellus came back as a raaig, bound to his cave temple and unable to stray more than a mile from it.

When the Mists took Kalidnay, they also took Mocellus. In Ravenloft, he has received the full abilities of a cleric for the first time. He still has the same agenda as he did on Athas, but Mocellus doesn does not realize how much the world around him has changed. In his state of madness, he doesn't not realize that Kalidnay is a different place from Waverly.
