A minor character from the novel Baroness of Blood, Mihael Obour is a former baron of Kislova, though ruling on behalf of Baron Peto Casse. He is now deceased, having perished due to the machinations of his sister Ilsabet Obour
Biography
Mihael is the son of Baron Janosk Obour and a mother of unspecified name. He was the middle child of three siblings, the other two being Ilsabet Obour, the youngest, and Marishka Obour, the oldest. He was killed by Shaul. It was said Mihael received his father's rugged handsomeness and martial prowess. He was part of the Obour Family that traditionally ruled [[[1] He did not, however, inherit his father's ruthlessness.
Baron Janosk used harsh and cruel rule to clamp down rebels during the Kislovan Civil War. Unfortunately, the war broke the moral and the pocketbook of Kislova. To bolster both, Janosk led the invasion of the nearby barony, Sundell. The invasion went badly, and Baron Peto Casse led a counter-invasion. After Peto accepted Janosk's self-imposed execution and control over in return for sparing the lives of the Obours and their allies, Peto placed Mihael upon the throne to rule on Peto's behalf.[2]
Mihael became suspicious of Ilsabet guilt in poisoning Marshika and Greta following the latter's death. He expressed his conceerns to Lord Jorani. Argument over the truth of Mihael's suspicions caused them to come to blows, but Shaul intervened. The conflict tipped off Ilsabet to Mihael's suspicions, so she poisoned some of Mihael Obour's food with a deliriant to cause his sanity to be called into question.[3] However, things fell out of control as the poison when Peto and Shaul were also exposed. After argument over Ilsabet's guilt turned to fisticuffs, a berserk Mihael drew his dagger and met his end upon Shaul's blade as Shaul defended Peto.[4]
