Melvina Joran was a woman in despair and sorrow after Harth Dantain murdered her last remaining daughter. A shadow fey offered to end her sadness by taking her shadow and thus making her a changeling, and she accepted. Her diary is excerpted in Van Richten's Guide to the Shadow Fey[1]
