Madame Maruschka was a raunie of the Zarovan tribe of the Vistani, following after Madame Eva.[1] Maruschka was the granddaughter of Madame Eva, sister of Petya[2], and aunt of both Alexi Petrovich and Mikhail. She remained unmarried and had no children of her own.[3]
The prophecy Marushka gave Jander Sunstar became highly important for him finding peace with his death to sunlight in 500 BC.[4] Prior to their incursion into Castle Ravenloft, she told the discerned their fortunes relating to the incoming attack and finding the Icon of Ravenloft. In order to not disrupt the connection her people had with Strahd, Maruschka also informed Strahd of their impending attack.[5]
She was born in the distant past, and succeeded by Madame Ilka, so she is categorized as deceased. However her tribe’s existence in non-linear time would allow her to be seen in the present.
