Hoorku Mishkov[1] was original holder of the Blood Coin, slipped into his possessions by Gabrielle Aderre as punishment for Hoorku's swindling.
Hoorku was a Borcan merchant of high ambition but low sensibility or moral character. He proudly led a caravan on an unwise expedition through Gundarak, where Medraut Gundar and his minions deprived Hoorku of nearly everything. Hoorku was allowed to hold onto one object, a magical gem for which he later used to cheat Gabrielle out of her money. After he was struck with the curse, Hoorku died a pauper and beggar trying to get rid of the cursed coin.
