First mentioned in the article "Little Horrors[1]", Grossvaterbaum is one of the Loa or Spirits that are worshiped by the local Chi-Folken.

According to local mythology, Grossvaterbaum is the spirit of Time. It was once King of the Spirits, but time has bent its bough, and it spends much of its time asleep. It has been replaced as leader of the Spirits by Lupta, but appears to be content to slip into obscurity, feeling that its work has been finished.

Grossvaterbaum is closely associated with two other Spirits; Funis Magicus and Philosophus Lugens, who are said to live within its branches.

Appearance

When depicted or manifested, Grossvaterbaum appears as an ancient tree, whose roots draw on the waters of the world and whose branches are filled with the whispers of the wind.

Trivia

Grossvaterbaum's gradual decline may be the work of Iluviei Vorans, as it embodies entropy.
