Ganelon's Severed Ear is not HIS severed ear, but rather one of the ears given to him by the Whispering Beast from its necklace of ears.[1] By speaking into the ear, Ganelon can give orders to the mad, but he can also apparently bring some sanity back to them.[2]
Ganelon used the ear to order the Whispering Beast's wards to help him harvest the red roses fro Malocchio's Dream Garden.[3]
