Dhuqarru the Honored is a marid imprisoned by Kairiya bint Amaani al-Samad, the Emira of the city of Zayawa. She summoned him to provide fresh water for her city, but good intentions do not change the fact that he is a prisoner. Duqarru would destroy her if he could.[1]
However, the (dread) possibility exists that Dhuqarru and Kairiya have reached an understanding. If so, then Dhuqarru is impersonating Kairiya for twenty-one years while she plays the role of a pet fish. Meanwhile, Dhuqarru continues to provide water for Zayawa.[2]
