Crave is a character from the Tales of Ravenloft: Undefiled short story. He is a vampire greatly feared by the people of Estrangia, the city in which he resides. He feeds once per week, and has displayed great strength, a powerful domination gaze, and the use of presumably arcane as opposed to divine magic.
Friar Whelm and the Temple of White Hope remain, according to the faithful, the only warm lights that help them endure their tormented lives. Whereas Whelm seems to perform healing miracles, he does not preach the taking of arms against Crave, for such is folly, or so he he says. In reality, Crave is an ally to, even subordinate of, Friar Whelm, who is a horrible undead predator in his own right.
Lord Tenet and Lady Larom were badly injured in the fight against Crave when the Mists delivered them to Estrangia. Lord Tenet brought the unconscious Lady Larom to the Temple of White Hope. There, they received healing from Friar Whelm, but neither he nor any of his congregation would go with Tenet to finish off the wounded vampire. Lord Tenet left alone and subsequently perished at the hands of Crave.
