The past is the present gone by, whether recently, in living memory, or prior to memory. Its personnages, event, and epoches are destined to be forgotten and lost. The past is reflected upon, recounted, and brought to present mind by history. Whereas perception is preception of the present, reflection is reflection on the past in the present. The past cannot (at least usually) be rewritten. History is continually being rewritten. In Land of Mists the Dark Powers may be able to rewrite the past.
