An ooze-like, minimally intelligent shapechanger that can mimic living beings after tasting their blood. The touch of an impersonator in its natural form causes paralysis.[1][2]
Though the Intelligence (or lack there of) limits its comprehension of language to basic concepts[2], it shows a natural low cunning[1]. its tactics range from basic ambushes[2] all the way up to infiltrating villages and assuming the guises of several victims in quick succession to throw off monster hunters.[1] Ravenloft Monstrous Compendium I & II mentions an innate ability to choose forms approachable by its victims[1]. However, this ability is not well defined, nor is it mentioned in Denizens of Darkness or Denizens of Dread.
Impersonators can be encountered in the following domains: Darkon[3], Dementlieu[4], Hazlan[5], Richemulot[6], Sithicus[7], Tepest[8]
