Electromagneticism is poorly understood in the Land of Mists. Druids, sorcerers and wizards may wield lightning destructively. But they make no constructive use of electrical energy and have little, if any, theoretical knowledge of the phenomena itself, let alone of the principles of electromagnetic induction. The most knowledgeable individuals in the field, although they are not recognised as such, are Dr. Victor Mordenheim and Emil Bollenbach. Mordenheim has successfully applied electrical energy to his biological experiements and to the more rudementry matter of providing lumination. More remarkable still, he has actually build an electrical generator, albeit one that provides electrical energy in quantities that would not impress an evoker. Bollenbach has developed further the electrical generator. It is also believed that electrical energy is gathered from lightning by a collector in the upper reach of Faith Hold on Mount Malcredo to power engines commissioned by Elena Faith-hold. Their purpose is unknown as is whether they are electromagnetic or magical in nature.
