The Deemers Family is the cover identity for a trio of slavers who manipulate people into enlisting passage on the New Hope to go to the Island of Evergreen. When New Hope lands in port, they typically visit local inns and taverns pretending to be a rather nondescript, but perfectly happy family, and speak of their good fortune to be going to Evergreen, hoping to sucker the desperate and the naive among the middle class. If any listeners seem interested, the Deemers instruct their targets to speak with Captain Carl Houghton for passage. In addition, the Deemers also write forged letters to the relatives of their victims to lure more victims to New Hope.^[1]

Gordon Westings plays the role of the father of the Deemers family. Amy Wells plays the role of the mother. Alicia Cipriu plays the role of the young daughter, though she is not actually a human child but rather a halfling in disguise. In addition to the normal tricks of the Deemers family, Alicia frequently targets street urchins and other vulnerable victims from the lower classes, promising to get them work in Carnival.^[2]
