Broward

Broward is a town and tiny domain afflicted with a special curse whereupon the dreams and nightmares of the realm's children are plagued by Red Eyes, Broward's darklord. Every two decades, a group of seven children are born that are destined to unite and destroy Red Eyes. For each and every generation, Red Eyes has managed to prevent this prophecy from taking place by dispatching them before they got the chance. He can take away children and their parents will soon lose all memory of them. Red Eyes is unseen and unrecognized by the adults of Broward.

History

Prior to becoming a domain in the Land of Mists, Broward was ruled by a mostly benevolent baron of forgotten name. Little was unique about him save an irrational, almost preternatural hatred he had for children, or at least ones he spotted inside his manor. The Baron took many a mistress, until one day he left a Vistani woman pregnant. When he heard that she was was with child, he murdered her, but she put upon him a dying curse that the Dark Powers heard and enacted. The Baron too perished, becoming a ghost and the darklord of the realm. Generations passed, and Red Eyes became more insidious and powerful.

Four decades ago, an elf wild mage named Kilydd visited the town. His child-like personality enabled him to perceive Red Eyes, and using divinations the elf mage recognized the evil that was afoot. He saved a group of seven destined children. For 20 years he labored to gather the seven children together and crafted special magic items to empower them to focus their energy to defeat Red Eyes once and for all. The attempt failed to destroy Red Eyes, but it pushed him back for two decades. Kilydd vowed to learn from his mistake and has spent another two decades preparing for a rematch with Red Eyes. For his part, Red Eyes has vowed to not be caught off guard again.
