A young woman of the village of Dibri. In 757 BC she was killed by bandits near her home. The bandits looted her possessions, retrieved the arrows with which they had killed her, and left her corpse where it had fallen. However, the next morning the bandits discovered that possessions and arrows alike had mysteriously returned to Ayanna's corpse. Eventually the bandits hacked the body to pieces and scattered the parts, but even then, the corpse and arrows and possessions returned to the site of the killing. The people of Dibri witnessed the same miracle when they attempted to return her body to the village for proper cremation. In short order they built a shrine to Ayanna's spirit at the site where she had died.[1]
Ayanna is survived by her parents, Leena and Fargu Hazra.[2]
One of the bandits involved in her killing, a man named Daksh, now wanders Sri Raji, attempting to atone for his many crimes.[3]
