Alexandru Uzun was the mayor of Kryoso in Sanguinia when the Gray Plague first struck in 605 BC. He guided the town through the Gray Plague and the subsequent three-year winter. In 611 BC, when Prince Ladislav Mircea broke two years of silence to issue a demand that the young nobles of Kryoso come to Castle Guirgiu for a gala, the nobility of Kryoso were not inclined to humor their prince. Although Alexandru Uzun initially argued in favor of sending a delegation to the gala, he eventually acceded to the nobles' desire to ignore the invitation. Nonetheless, when the Ash Men arrived at Kryoso to express the prince's displeasure, Alexandru Uzun attempted to take responsibility for the decision entirely upon himself. The Ash Men paid him no heed. They killed him first. Kryoso burned, and then those few people who remained were stricken with the Gray Plague. Kryoso had been utterly destroyed.[1]

Alexandru Uzun still haunts the ruins of his city.[1]
