Brother Grigor was a monk and priest of the Church of Andral residing in Berez as of 400 BC. Although highly unkempt in appearance[1], Brother Grigor was a truly pious worshipper of Andral.[2] Brother Grigor resided in the Berez Church, which had fallen into disrepair.[3] After the amnesiac Marina was brought to Grigor, he was the one whom named her.[4]

Strahd described order that Brother Grigor belonged to as an almost fringe group of fanatical and dangerous monks.[5] However, very little in Strahd's memoirs speaks of Grigor's tendency towards violence. On the other hand, he seemed to be quick to call for Lord Vasili van Holtz's medical treatment when the latter fell ill.[6] When Marina began to fall victim to Strahd's corruption, Brother Grigor was the first one to notice and intervene.[7] Yet despite his proclivity for piety and healing, Grigor may not totally beyond corruption. Burgomaster Lazlo had hoped to get Grigor to rescind Lazlo's adoption of Marina such that Lazlo may marry her. Strahd attributed the ease of this transaction to bribeery from Lazlo.[8]

Spared the full wrath of Strahd thanks to the latter's memory of High Priestess Ilona Darovnya, Brother Grigor was dominated and sent to the Shrine of the White Sun in Krezk.[9] where he presumably lived out the rest of his days. In Grigor's absence to continue with his protections and blessings, Lazlo staked Marina before she could transform into a vampire.[10]
