Drugs are substances other than nutriments that are introduced into a body for the purpose of modifying, temporarily or permanently, its physical or mental processes. Drugs prescribed to cure or treat disease are medications. An overdose of drugs is poisonous. Any drug and indeed any substance, in sufficient quantity, can be used as a poison. Foxglove, for example, can be used to kill. Most drugs include medically undesirable side effects which make them at the same time poisons.
