Thoris is a character from the novel Heart of Midnight. He was a childhood friend of Casimir[1] and helped him achieve power in Harmonia.[2] At Casimir's insistence, Thoris became high priest of the Church of Milil, the new state religion Casimir instituted in Harmonia.[3] After learning of his friend's identity as a werewolf, chance, their own mutual distrust, and the machinations of Harkon Lukas) put Thoris and Casimir at odds with each other.[4]

Thrice Thoris tried to arrange the escape of Julianna Estovina's escape to Gundarak (or, more appropriate, escape from Casimir and Lukas.) The escape attempts failed twice[5] On the third try, Julianna escaped. However, Casimiar lay dead, struck down by Julianna's own cold iron dagger.[6]

At the end of Heart of Midnight, Thoris stood on the cliffs of South Hill, as Casimir had done earlier. Valsarik attempted to convince Thoris to stop. However, Thoris jumped over the side, ending his life.[7] His fate is mentioned in passing in Gazetteer I.[8]
